Fun Facts about the Collier County Libraries and Reading Aloud

Commentary:
Sarah Mackenzie is the founder of the Read-Aloud Revival and mother of six children. In her recently published book, The Read-Aloud Family, Sarah shares her journey of raising children to not only be prepared for academic success but also how to become empathetic and compassionate human beings through reading aloud as a family. She states in the quote above how reading together bonds a family because stories bring out such amazing conversations that we might have never had without reading aloud.
Sarah lists numerous books for children 0-3 to the teenage years. Where can you find many if not all of the books Sarah suggests in her book? Fortunately, we are blessed to live in a county who treasures and invests in public libraries.
Did you know that Collier County has 10 different library branches? Families can benefit from checking out amazing books, videos, and CDs; and/or download eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, and eArticles.
For a more interactive library experience, the libraries offer much more than just checking out books or downloading e-resources. In the month of June alone, the library branches offer over 150 activities and/or storytimes for kids from ages 3 months-18 years. These activities include chess instruction, movies, craft activities, needlework makerspaces, and so much more!
The Collier County Library website offers additional services kids might need. For example, the Career, Tutoring, and Testing page provides students with Brain Fuse Job Now to help students find jobs and Brain Fuse Help Now to help students who might need tutoring services.
We chose to highlight the library during the month of June because we know that kids still need educational stimulation during the summer. Also, Naples can get very hot, humid, and rainy during June. Where is a great indoor place to take your kids to enjoy a social activity and private reading time? Of course, the library is! Find a location close to you!
